Bletchingdon housing

Text
Al-Jawad Pike were commissioned to develop an outline concept proposal for a new residential development in Bletchingdon, UK. The site is situated within a greenbelt and forms part of a conservation area with picturesque views over rolling meadows that surround the site. Our starting point was to establish a masterplan consisting of three house types, each self-similar in their architectural language. The arrangement of houses creates a new communal garden, while taking advantage of the views. The volumetric and material character of the houses take their cue from the local vernacular, which consists of monolithic stone houses and pitched roof silhouettes.
